MonoJot is intentionally small in spirit: a fast writing surface, a useful library, optional context panels, and a backup path you can understand.
No account wall
The app opens directly. There is no registration step before you can write a sentence.
Portable by design
JSON backups and TXT exports keep your library moveable, readable, and recoverable.
Markdown stays visible
Formatting remains legible as plain text. The tool should never trap your writing in an opaque format.
Optional panels
Weather, reminders, calendar, Map, and Insights support specific workflows and can stay out of view otherwise.
No false privacy claims
Screen Lock is for casual shared-device privacy. It is not encryption or secure vault storage.
Story
A personal writing tool that grew carefully.
MonoJot started as a simple place to write without being managed by the software itself. The goal was not to create another productivity command center. The goal was a writing surface that opens fast, autosaves locally, and leaves the structure of your thinking intact.
As the app grew, the additions followed the same rule: help when called, disappear when not needed. Smart Typing handles simple calculations and conversions inside the note. [[Note links]] and backlinks create relationships. The Map panel shows those relationships. Backup and export keep the system honest.
