Backups are essential because MonoJot stores notes in your browser. Treat exporting as part of using a local-first app.

Download a full backup

A full backup saves your library as a JSON file. Use it when moving devices, changing browsers, or protecting your notes before clearing browser data.

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Choose Data.
  3. Select Download full backup.
  4. Store the file somewhere safe.

Export plain text

TXT export is useful when you want notes that can be opened anywhere. Plain-text files are easier to archive, search, move, and inspect outside MonoJot.

Restore from a backup

Use the import option in Settings → Data. Read any confirmation message carefully before replacing or merging data.

Back up before risky changes

Create a backup before browser cleanup, operating system reinstall, device migration, app testing, or importing a large file.
