The Map panel helps you see the structure that emerges from your notes. It works best when you link naturally instead of trying to design a perfect system first.
What the Map panel shows
The Map panel can surface relationships from:
[[Note links]]- backlinks from other notes
- tags
- @mentions
- related clusters of notes
Start with note links
When one note belongs with another, type [[ and choose the note you want to link. The link becomes part of the note, and the relationship becomes visible in the Map panel.
Use backlinks as context
Backlinks answer a simple question: what other notes point here? That is useful for project notes, research notes, reading notes, and recurring ideas.
Do not overbuild the map
The map should reveal structure after you write. If you spend more time arranging the system than writing notes, simplify the structure and keep linking only the notes that genuinely belong together.
